“Red Dead Redemption 2” may be in development. According to a report from Tweak Town on Feb. 26, Colin Sebastian believed that Rockstar Games will be announcing the sequel sometime by the end of this year.
The analyst at Baird Equity Research believed that “Red Dead Redemption 2” will be released on next-generation consoles, most likely referring to the recently-launched PS4 and Xbox One. The potential sequel may be being planned with an expected release date on the third quarter of 2015, which is between the months of July and Sept. of next year.
The “Red Dead” series started with the launch of “Red Dead Revolver” for the PS2 and Xbox in 2004. However, it wasn’t until the release of “Red Dead Redemption” for the PS3 and Xbox 360 in 2010 did the franchise achieved critical and financial success.
The second game of the series suffered from several issues, however, especially on Sony’s current-generation console. Furthermore, it was never released on the PC platform, which upset many fans who wanted to experience “Red Dead Redemption” under the most optimal graphical settings. You can find some screens of the game running on consoles with the slideshow to the left of this article.
With the PS4 and Xbox One being several times more powerful than the PS3 and Xbox 360, “Red Dead Redemption 2” should not suffer from the same technical issues as the previous title.
